Discovery Learners (3 Years to Kindergarten)
One of our favorite things about our Discovery Learners is how much they love questions! Our preschoolers and kindergartners have a huge appetite for learning about the world around them, and they're not afraid to ask questions about how the world works, especially when you least expect it. When you're in this classroom, don't be afraid of the word "why", because you'll get asked ten times a lesson!
IN OUR DISCOVERY LEARNERS CLASS, WE WIN WHEN A CHILD TAKES A STEP TOWARDS UNDERSTANDING THEIR FAITH
Questions help them understand their place in God's creation. That's why this class uses the "Answers In Genesis" preschool curriculum on Sunday mornings, a curriculum designed around the tough questions our children will ask. On Wednesdays, we switch gears to an Awana Curriculum that is more focused on getting our children to memorize scripture. Preschoolers and Kindergartners are like sponges, ready to absorb knowledge, so we found a curriculum to match both their energy, and their thirst for knowledge.
Whether there is one child in class, or ten, we always want our staff to be prepared for a fun, engaging, and slightly chaotic class. Our Discovery Learners constantly keep our staff on their toes, and while they may leave feeling exhausted, we know that in answering their questions we're helping them to better understand their faith, and how the world works. We strive for staff in this classroom who are willing to be active, engage with the children, and take the introductory steps in helping our children build their faith. It is not always easy, but it is so worth it!
What We're Learning About
Discovery Learners Staff attempts to create a fun, engaging, and nurturing environment for our three through fives. On Wednesdays, we use an Awana curriculum that focuses on Bible memorization, while on Sunday mornings the "Answers in Genesis" curriculum teaches the children to use those same verses to support the memorization with stories and application.
